West Palm Beach, Fla. — Former congressman Joe Walsh (R-IL) said he will run for president in 2020 as a Libertarian if Donald Trump fails to “advance freedom,” according to attendees at a conservative conference Saturday.

“If Donald Trump doesn’t advance freedom over the next 4 years, I’m running for president as the Libertarian candidate,” he said.

Walsh, who represented Illinois’s 8th district in Congress from 2011 to 2013, is now a nationally syndicated radio host who regularly engages with his audience on Twitter. During the election, he supported Trump.
