#CPAC2015: Rand Paul Wins Straw Poll, Walker and Cruz Follow

This year’s CPAC brought together an eclectic lineup of potential presidential candidates and conservative activists. Speakers included Rand Paul, Scott Walker, Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, and Phil Robertson

A big part of CPAC is its presidential straw poll – an opinion poll of conference attendees about who they would like to see run for President of the United States. This year’s winner, with 25.7% of the vote, was Senator Rand Paul. He was followed closely by Governor Scott Walker (21.4%) and Texas Senator Ted Cruz (11.5%).

  12. Bobby Jindal: 0.9%
  13. Sarah Palin: 0.8%
  14. Mike Huckabee: 0.3%
  15. John Bolton: 0.3%
  16. Lindsey Graham: 0.1%
  17. George Pataki: 0.1%

This is Senator Paul’s third year winning the CPAC Straw Poll. His father, former Congressman Ron Paul, won the poll in both 2010 and 2011. According to the Washington Times, more than 3,000 people voted in this year’s poll.
